During the annual cattle drive, the colourfully adorned animals return home to their barns under the delighted gaze of hundreds of excited spectators. The cattle return from the mountain pastures. First though, every animal is given a festive “Buschn” headdress made from pine cones and roses, grain and barley stems, edelweiss and pearls.

The procession then sets off on foot through the entire valley. The cattle drive is headed up by the lead cows, which know their way home by themselves – and naturally have the finest headdresses. The women also wear their finest Dirndls and the men their dashing folk costumes.

The event is rounded off by both culinary delights and plenty of entertainment.

There are 10 summer cable cars in Zillertal which will whisk the entire family directly, quickly and extremely comfortably to the best starting points for remarkable tours.

Eight summer cable cars also transport mountain bikes.
